Frequently Asked Questions |
Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions about Q-plus Bridge:
The new version is slower than a previous versions - why?
The speed of the program depends on the setting of the playing strength configuration
as shown in the program menu item: "Configuration / Playing strength".
During the installation the program tries to find the best values for the specific PC,
but this does not always work.
Please proceed as follows:
- select the menu item of the program: Configuration / Playing Strength
- reduce the playing strength level, e.g. from 72 to 54, or from 60 to 48.
How do I install the Android version on my smartphone or tablet?
The Android version can only be installed as a download.
To do this, go in the web browser - usually Chrome - of the device
also to this Q-plus Bridge web site, there to the Download section.
Does Q-plus Bridge run on a Mac? on an iPad?
Yes, the new Q-plus Bridge 15 direct also runs in the (Safari) browser
on Apple systems. As a browser application, the device must be connected
to the Internet, even if the actual data traffic is only small after the first call.
Can two people play together with Q-plus Bridge?
Yes. Q-plus Bridge supports playing on 2 connected PCs in a local net (LAN)
or (since version 15.3) via the Internet. However, for the time being,
only the Windows version has these functions.
Can I define new bidding systems?
Yes, Q-plus Bridge has more than 150 conventions (or treatments), and individual bidding systems
can be formed by activating a set of those.
The default bidding systems are, in fact, nothing more
than specific configurations of the switches.
Can I define a new convention not
already in Q-plus Bridge?
No, Q-plus Bridge cannot learn new conventions.
Is Q-plus Bridge copy protected?
Yes, there is a copy protection in the form that at the end of the installation
you need to activate the program using your product key, and the number of activations
(i.e. installations on different PCs) is limited.
What is the price of Q-plus Bridge?
This depends on the country and on the distributor.
Typically, about the same price is asked as for the competition, i.e. the (few) other good bridge programs.
Please contact one of the distributors.
Is Q-plus Bridge suitable for an absolute beginner?
Q-plus Bridge does not teach the rules of bridge, it assumes that the user knows them.
A beginner will heavily be beaten by the program.
Under the premise that he or she will not get discouraged,
a fast progress can be achieved, particularly as Q-plus Bridge offers many help and explanation features.
Still, as first program, "Begin Bridge" by Bernard Magee, is the first choice.
